Role: Head of RF Engineering
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000
I am recruiting for a head of RF to join a successful company based in Bristol to lead a small hardware engineering team.
Job Purpose and Primary Objective:
*Provide management-level direction to ensure on time, to specification completion of the company’s product, considering all areas including development, production and adherence to the Quality Management System
*Manage system design and development of the company product. This includes electronic and mechanical design, verification and validation
*Production support and transfer of designs to production
Roles and Responsibilities
*Manage the day to day running of the hardware design team
*Provide assistance, guidance and tutoring to junior members of staff, ensuring adherence to the Quality Management System
*Systems architecture, design and development of mechanical and electronic equipment (covering digital, analogue and RF electronics) for medical devices in adherence to company procedures and regulatory standards
*Define operating procedures for the hardware team and ensure they are integrated and inline with the Quality Management System.
*Maintain and update existing designs as well as development of designs from initial concept with a view for ease of manufacture.
*Generating technical documentation such as design and validation reports, manufacturing and production guidelines and manuals
*Assist with the calibration, installation and servicing of systems both on and off site
*Production support for new and existing designs including leasing with external contractors in the manufacture of the company’s product
*Support development and maintenance of Technical Files to maintain compliance with ISO 13485, FDA and other relevant regulatory standards
*Adherence to company plans and product performance goals
Key technical skills:
*Board level verification of RF circuit’s boards up to 8GHz including fault finding and board repair.
*Software automation of hardware control, test equipment and data acquisition using Python.
*Design and schematic creation of control boards, reviewing sub contract PCB layout.
*Requirements definition and system architecture design.
*Reviewing sub-contracted software/firmware and hardware.
*Identifying future solutions to further cost reduce existing designs.
*Project planning, management and organisation of data for release to production.
