Role-Principal Hardware Engineer – Functional Safety- Automotive
Salary- £44,000- £54,000

I’m looking for a Principal Hardware Engineer focusing on functional safety to work out of a purpose build RnD centre in Central Birmingham. This is a company has an international presence, it has fantastic benefits package and you’ll be a key player in developing their latest projects.
You’ll need to be someone who wants to get stuck in and throw idea’s around to get the best solution to a problem!
You will be working on hardware architecture design, ISO 26262 functional safety standard compliant design, requirement management and hardware development process management within hybrid converter technology.

What’s your key responsibility?
*Lead the model-based inverter hardware architecture design, requirement management and decomposition; define hardware model/block requirement and interfaces to design engineers.
*Understand and document the relationship between hardware system and model blocks, guarantee the traceability of requirement and functions, maintain the function net and failure net.
*Design analysis of model block level, define and allocate analysis task of model detail design including safety analysis such as FMEDA, FTA, Diagnostic Coverage, Metric calculation and reliability analysis such as De-rating, DFMEA, WCCA
*Generate awareness and build capability of ISO 26262 functional safety oriented hardware development across the team
*Define and manage hardware development process, guarantee the quality and delivery time of all work products
*Verification and validation of safety related hardware circuit as well as specification, test result and report reviews.
What skills should you have?
*At least 2 years of ISO 26262 functional safety compliant hardware design experience
*Electronic architecture design experience
*FPGA development experience
*SMPS (Switch mode power supply) fed from low voltage and high voltage line design experience
*SMPS closed-loop control design experience
*PCB design experience with good knowledge of trade off considering function, heat dissipation, EMC, insolation, cost control and manufacturability
*ASIC development experience
*PREEvision/SOX/Medini tool experience
