My client an international manufacturing company is looking for a talented Packaging/Production to work out of their purpose-built manufacturing site in Droitwich Spa. This company manufactures electronic goods for the automotive industry on a large scale, they export globally over a million units a year. You’ll be responsible for the packaging of the units, budgeting, source and designing of the packaging.
*To identify the packaging requirement for new projects, volume increases and improvement activities in order to ensure adequate funding is established in the capital budget.
*To work with and develop the companies packaging standard to enable successful management of documentation and the adherence of suppliers to the required standards.
*To use the PFMEA to capture, understand and improve packaging design concerns to ensure the correct packaging solution is achieved based on regular PFMEA reviews.
*To ensure the project becomes reality the packaging budget must be maintained or improved in line with the forecast.
*To periodically check requirements and make necessary provisions for alternative
Packaging Specification due to Stock builds Customer packaging return delayed etc.
This requirement will be met by utilising an available cardboard packaging to meet the temporary requirement.
*To work in conjunction with the packaging supplier to provide the optimum packaging solution having given consideration to:
1.Health & Safety; ensure loaded box weight is acceptable to ergonomic guidelines.
2.To ensure the part presentation in the box is correct for standard work.
3.The quantity of parts per box is maximized.
4.The materials used offer the best technology for the application within the budgeted amount.
5.Component parts are sufficiently retained with no degradation to the cosmetic surfaces or functionality.
6.Re utilization and recycling of packaging is given consideration.
*To ensure the packaging design is established the packaging prototype will be submitted to the manufacturing functions, quality and Logistics and when required the OE and Service Customers.
*Once approval has been agreed mass consignment manufacturing can commence.
*To manage the order and prototype approval being obtained the manufacture of the packaging will be managed to ensure the packaging is available in line with both external and internal project requirements.
*To maintain an inventory of all plant packaging to ensure the optimum utilization of the packaging stock.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
*Ideally 3 to 5 years of Packaging Experience in the Automotive Industry in a Packaging Engineering function.
*Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and SOP’s as defined by the Quality policies, practices, and procedures to ensure that FDA and ISO regulations and standards are met.
*Performs technical tasks from documented specification and/or written/verbal instructions.
*A Production Engineering qualification and a basic CAD design capability is required the engineer will have strong commercial and timing negotiation skills.
