ISL are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Manager to join a busy R+D team based in Cornwall.

This role has huge responsibility and would suit someone who is not scared for a challenge!

You will also be expected to interface with customers/suppliers and all other departments so you need to be able to communicate information verbally or in writing at an appropriate level in a professional manner and create, maintain and enhance productive working relationships

The job will require UK and international travel from time to time.

Your daily role:

*Taking a flexible and open minded approach, plan and control projects as agreed with the R&D Manager from concept to production release in line with company ISO procedures, ensuring products are fit for purpose and within budget.

*Help identify to the project team during the planning stages and throughout a project, factors effecting its successful completion.

*Prepare project documentation before, during and after a development. e.g. specifications, BOM’s, test schedules, test reports, training guides, service manuals.

*Provide novel and innovative solutions to design requirements and design / product issues.

*Liaise with suppliers, in partnership with Purchasing, on technical issues faced by the supplier and to source new components ensuring an acceptable supply chain can be maintained in Production.

*Guide other engineers in the appropriate methods required to ensure their designs meet the required cost, quality, safety, legislative, reliability & aesthetic parameters

*Constantly reviewing with the R&D manager procedures and processes to improve the quality of products at the design & development stage.

*Work closely with colleagues to provide technical support as required.

*Design, develop and test products. Ensuring that the design meets the required cost, quality, safety, legislative, reliability and aesthetic parameters.

*Complete verification and validation process’s and reports on the designed products and the systems within which they integrate.


*Holiday: 25 days (pro-rata) which increases over length of service (in addition to bank holidays). 2018 would be 25 days, 2019 would be 27 days

*BUPA Health Insurance (family membership provision of Westfield Healthcare (cash-back scheme).

*The current requirements for auto-enrolment are provided by the company (company pay 3% contribution).
