Firmware Enigneer – Swindon – £60,000 , C, C++, RTOS

Role: Senior Firmware Engineer

Location: Swindon

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + amazing benefits

I am working with a company that has global backing and a strong product range around the world!

Due to their continued success they are looking for another Senior Firmware engineer to join the team at their site in Swindon.

This role would suit an engineer who is interested with being involved with cutting edge firmware development practices and are willing to take risks This position will involve developing product firmware functionality to deliver key device features that delight customers by Taming Communication Chaos, keeping them In the Zone, and providing Smarter Customer Interactions.


*Develop modular/portable firmware for enterprise headset product features in C and C++

*Create unit tests, test setups, and test scripts to verify firmware code

*Contribute to firmware design, architecture, and documentation

*Collaborate with other firmware, software SQA, manufacturing, electrical, DSP, acoustic, and mechanical engineers in product development teams

Minimum Qualifications

*BS degree in ECE, EE or CS or equivalent experience

*8+ years of experience in firmware development in C/C++, preferably for electronics products shipping in high volumes.

*8+ years of experience with RTOS environments (FreeRTOS, uCOS, RTXOS, etc.)

*8+ years of experience with source control (Git, SVN, Perforce, etc.)

*Fundamental understanding of multi-tasking, real-time software development

*Experience with hardware interfaces (USB, UART, I2C, I2S, SPI, GPIO, etc.)

*Ability to read and understand electrical schematics

Desired Qualifications

*Experience with scripting languages (Python, Ruby, etc.)

*Practical experience in developing firmware for ARM based processors

*Experience in wireless product development (DECT, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.), especially DECT

*Experience with audio device firmware development, DSP is a plus

*Experience developing multi-processor systems using and managing inter-processor communication

*Experience with USB development

*Experience in a Windows development environment for embedded systems

*Experience with embedded Linux is a plus

*Experience with the full product development lifecycle, including debugging firmware issues both prior to and post release
