Energy Storage Lead
ISL are assisting a growing company based in Somerset who are developing new products in the autonomous environment.
An exciting opportunity to lead & participate in the design and development of all technical aspects relating to advanced energy storage. Focusing on integration of bespoke energy storage solutions to power our existing & future product range.
You will engage with engineers and suppliers both internally and externally to ensure an optimised solution is engineered and support continuous improvement through innovation, commercialisation and business need.
*Define & maintain documentation detailing system requirements, compliance, performance & validation in accordance with product specifications.
*Drive development activities to align with project programs and deadlines both internally and externally.
*Lead and participate in the design, development & simulation of storage systems
*Collaborate with other design engineers ensuring correct systems & product integration
*Assist in testing of prototypes to ensure performance characteristics and compliance are met
*Develop & Drive continuous improvement for best practise design, guidelines & rules.
Essential Qualifications / Experience:
*Significant knowledge (degree or other appropriate qualification essential) in electrical/Electronic Engineering or other relevant discipline.
*Considerable demonstrable experience of leading design work in a similar manufacturing business.
*Significant experience in energy storage systems, mechanical and electronic design for volume manufacture.
*Commercial experience – such as negotiation techniques, supply chain management, customer relationship development, etc.
*Demonstrable technical knowledge in the following subjects areas:
*Current and emerging battery chemistries
*Performance, cycle life, thermal performance and operating characteristics of batteries & chemistries
*Cell and pack level characteristics and parameters
*Cell & pack level best practice design guides, rules, manufacturing & assembly techniques.
*Current and emerging global safety standards
*Use of CAD packages ideally Solid Works & Altium.
*Design of electronic safety systems & Battery Management Systems (BMS)
*Previous experience in consumer products, power electronics, portable devices, power tools etc.
*Hands on testing & evaluation using a range of test equipment
*Able to work independently or as part of a team.
