With September’s Employee of the month, Jon!
How does it feel to win Employee of the month?
Having won in June and July, I feel really proud to win again this month, it is always nice to be recognised for hard work. Everyone is working so hard at the moment and is at the top of their game, so it is a great atmosphere to work in.
What has been the highlight of the month?
This has been a really busy month with lots of promising things happening. It is great to partner with some really exciting companies and help to grow a community. I think if I had to pick one stand out moment, it would be hosting our first in-person networking event in almost 2 years! It was a hybrid event down in London about Data Climate. We were able to connect people both locally and globally. My favourite part of the industry is getting out and networking because of the great people you meet.
What keeps you motivated?
I would say that my main motivation is helping startups in their scaleup journey. Focusing on talking through early stage scaling plans and watching them grow is such a rewarding process. I like to focus on the bigger picture and help make an impact, rather than just delivering a standard recruitment process.
How has flexible working affected your performance?
I definitely have been more successful since we started flexi working. I love having Friday afternoons to myself. I think that having a 4-and-a-half-day week is a much more adult relationship to have with work. It gives me a chance to get out on the motorbike, meet my friends at the pub and very occasionally do a spot of cleaning!
What are your goals for the rest of the year?
I am currently waiting for the green light to move to Australia. But before I go, I want to help more businesses’ grow and extend my network that I have been building over the years.
What lessons have you learned this year?
The market has been crazy this past year, there has been a rush of work post-pandemic and it has been hard to keep up at times. I think over the last 7 years of working in recruitment I have learned to put clients and candidates first. I focus on maximising the relationships I build with clients because inevitably the market will change.
How are you going to celebrate your success?
I am heading to Dublin at the end of the month for my birthday. It will be good to get the chance to unwind and celebrate Halloween in style.
