Celebrating Success-10 minutes with Milo
In light of Milo winning Employee of the Month in July, we decided to sit down and ask him a few questions about his time at ISL so far. Milo joined ISL in May 2016 as part of our training academy which he went on to win. Since then, he’s gone from strength to strength and now plays a key role in the ISL office. Scroll down to read his story…
Tell us about your time at ISL so far…
My time at ISL so far has been a journey of personal development. When I first started, I was ready for a challenge and made sure to push myself through setbacks and learn from every new experience. The team culture and friendly working environment in the office meant I was reassured and supported when needed and congratulated and recognised for success, which has really helped me to progress. As I look forward to my future at ISL, I am confident in my work and that I am contributing to providing a leading service to companies and candidates alike.
If you were in charge of the ISL office for a day, what would you do?
I’d hold a motivational team meeting first thing in the morning to make sure everyone is focused and ready to start the day. I love working in a team environment and think it’s great to have everyone heading in the same direction.
How would you describe ISL in 3 words?
Friendly, professional and inclusive!
Tell us a bit about your market…
I recruit across the North of England focusing on technical engineer roles which generally cover embedded software and electronics design roles within growing product focused R&D teams. I was the first consultant to focus on this technology in the North, and have worked to develop the market for ISL. There’s a current rush to catch up with IoT focused products and renewable energy markets.
What’s been your biggest highlight at ISL so far?
My highlight would have to be this summer’s incentive trip to Ibiza!
What would be your top tip for someone starting at ISL?
My top tip would be to keep an open mind for new ideas and approaches, and to trust yourself and the process you follow. Results will come with hard work so take advantage of the autonomy and enjoy the ride!
What keeps you motivated at work?
I set myself short and long-term personal goals, ranging from holidays to saving for a house. I’ve always been competitive and the team environment at ISL means that there’s always some kind of friendly competition going on around the office!
How does it feel to win employee of the month?
I’m really pleased to be recognised for my hard work in July. I’m always happy to keep working hard for myself and my team to achieve goals regardless of incentives and accolades, but having the recognition for hard work is great, and something I hope to push towards again!
Where do you see yourself in the future?
By the end of 2018, I’m hoping to achieve a promotion to become a Senior Consultant here at ISL, which is achievable if the next few months go well. Once I’m in a Senior Consultant role I can look forward to potential leadership and Principal Consultant opportunities to continue developing personally and professionally.
